“New Normal” at Airfield Swim Academy

First of all, can we begin by saying we missed you all so much over the lockdown period, it has been a very strange time over these past few months for everyone. We hope you are keeping well and are looking forward to returning to the water. Of course, we cannot thank you enough for your patience over the lockdown period and also for your kind messages of support over the past few months.

Things will look a little different at Airfield as we strive to stick to the guidelines produced by our local government and Swim Ireland, but we hope these changes will not affect you too much on your journey with us. Our reopening date is Tuesday 4th August, but the guidance has asked us to open up again in a phased manor, so not all classes will start straight away. More details on this can be found below and we will be phoning all members from w/c 27th July to discuss your return to water.

We hope you will still enjoy our classes as we aim to keep a high standard teaching and support for all our members.

To facilitate the “new normal” going forward some minor adjustments to our timetable are required at this time. We may be in contact with you to arrange a different time slot for your class. We are trying to be as accommodating as we can in the circumstances and would ask for your assistance in this area. We are doing our upmost to keep the changes to our timetable to a minimum.

We have set out a few general points that everyone must follow when we reopen. There are also some changes which are specific to the individual courses we provide. Please ensure that you read and follow all guidance below which applies to your course. The changes implemented are to allow us to maintain safe social distancing within our facility.

General guidance:

  • If you or anyone in your household are displaying symptoms please follow the Public Health Authority’s advice and do not enter our facilities.
  • Hand sanitiser and temperature check is provided and should be used by everyone entering the building.
  • All members are advised to come to the pool ‘beach ready’ meaning you have your swimming gear on with a robe or likewise over the top. This means when you arrive at the pool you do not need the changing rooms and can get ready for your lesson at the poolside. Changing points will be marked out on the pool deck.
  • Please ensure that your child has their goggles and swimming cap on when they enter the premises. Due to current restrictions swimming instructors will not be allowed to help children put goggles etc on and we will no longer be able to loan out hats or goggles. We ask you to encourage your child/children to keep their goggles on for the duration of their lesson if they are unable to put them on independently.
  • Where possible we request all members leave at the end of your class without using the changing rooms. Have a quick dry down at the poolside, put your robe or likewise back on and leave the building. Social distancing guidance means that our access to changing facilities is limited at this time. Our changing rooms are available after lessons if you feel you want to use them but social distancing must be followed.
  • Please stay in your car until 5 mins before your lesson time, then you may come inside and straight to the poolside. Any earlier than this you may be asked to wait outside to keep numbers within the building to a minimum.
  • Course attendees and 1 parent/guardian only will be allowed inside the building.
  • Parents/guardians of children 8 years and over are requested not to come inside the building and instead stay in your car for the 30min lesson. Children are to be dropped off at the main door and collected from the main door.
  • Parents/Guardians of children under the age of 8 attending must stay within our viewing room area.

Airfield Tots

We will be in contact with you all as our class sizes will have to be reduced for a few weeks. This means some of you will have to change your current time slot. We do not expect you to bring your tots home without using the changing rooms as stated above. What we would ask for is you keep your social distance within the building. Cleaning materials are available within the changing rooms and would ask your clean down your station/changing mats after use. Anyone that wants to bring their own changing mat is more than welcome. We ask for a one parent/guardian per child only to attend the classes. We aim to start tots classes from Tuesday 4th of August.

Learn to swim program (levels 1, 2 & 3)

As we have been asked to open in a phased way we, unfortunately, cannot start levels 1, 2 & 3 straight away from the 4th of August. The reason behind this is at present the guidance is for the teacher not to be in the water during lessons. (We do hope this will change as the days go by). We anticipate towards the end of August we can start to introduce these levels, in the meantime, your sessions will be paused until you can return so you do not miss out and any pre-paid sessions. When the time comes for you to return we will be in touch with everyone to confirm dates and times and go over what the guidance will be at that time. We know this maybe isn’t the news you were looking forward too but again we ask for your patience.

Learn to swim program (levels 4, 5, 6, 7, & 8)

As we have been advised to open in a phased way for us this means levels 4, 5, 6, 7, & 8 can start lessons again from the 4th of August. The guidance states the teacher must stay out of the water for now. We will be in touch with you all to confirm times and dates. Some of you we may have to contact to arrange a change of time slot to facilitate our new timetable. As above please come to the pool ‘beach ready’ and if you can leave the same way without using the changing rooms please do so. Our changing rooms are available but you must maintain your social distance within them. What we are trying to avoid is a cluster of members in the changing rooms at one time and your cooperation on this would be very welcome. For the first two sessions, our teachers will not be assessing/scoring the kids to give them time to refresh their skills after the long break.

Adult Lessons

Beginners: We will be in touch with you all before we recommence on the 4th of August. The new normal for us all is to maintain our social distance and the guidance around this means the teacher for now is not allowed in the water. Some of you may not feel comfortable with this. We can talk this over with you. Another point is you must come to the pool ‘beach ready’ and if you can leave the same way please do so. Our changing rooms are available but you must maintain your social distance within them. What we are trying to avoid is a cluster of members in the changing rooms at one time and your cooperation on this would be very welcome.

Intermediate & Advanced: We will be in touch with you all before we recommence on the 4th of August. The new normal for us all is to maintain our social distance and the guidance around this means the teacher for now is not allowed in the water. You must come to the pool ‘beach ready’ and if you can leave the same way please do so. Our changing rooms are available but you must maintain your social distance within them. Airfield Sensory

As we have been asked to open in a phased way we, unfortunately, cannot start Airfield Sensory classes straight away from the 4th of August. The reason behind this is at present the guidance is for the teacher not to be in the water during lessons. (We do hope this will change as the days go by). We anticipate towards the end of August we can start to introduce these classes again, in the meantime, your sessions will be paused until you can return, so you do not miss out and any pre-paid sessions. 1 to 1 & 2 to 1 lessons

We will be in contact with you all w/c 27th July before our reopening date, each class will have different needs and we will talk that over with you. The new normal for us all is to maintain our social distance and the guidance around this means the teacher for now is not allowed in the water. You must come to the pool ‘beach ready’ and if you can leave the same way please do so. Our changing rooms are available but you must maintain your social distance within them. Aqua Fit classes

We will be in contact with you all but the good news is we can start the classes again from Tuesday 4th August. We must maintain social distance when inside the building. You must come to the pool ‘beach ready’ and if you can leave the same way please do so. Our changing rooms are available but you must maintain your social distance within them. What we are trying to avoid is a cluster of members in the changing rooms at one time your cooperation on this would be very welcome.

Any concerns or queries you may have can be discussed when we are in contact with you during w/c 27th July. We know these new adjustments will take time for us all to get used to and we thank you in advance for your cooperation, patience and support in the coming weeks and months.
